Overfill Prevention System

OPS Component

Today’s boat builders are faced with increasing environmental regulations. To meet or even understand what these regulations involve requires a huge amount of time and engineering resources. Enviro-Fill’s OPS uses Pressure Transfer Technology (patent pending) to meet EPA’s refueling requirements. Testing during ABYC’s study on refueling has demonstrated that our technology, with proper installation, meets all of the criteria proposed in the new refueling standard. It does this without the premature shutoffs that often result when pressurizing the tank is required to produce automatic shutoff, as is the case with other solutions being offered to boat builders.

EPA will require every boat design to be tested and certified to the new ABYC refueling standard before the builder can sell it. Our OPS will be certified by the EPA as a design based system, not being dependent on the vent and fill hoses for shutoff, allowing the builder to purchase our system designed for your current tank and meet the requirements without any design or testing by the boat builder.

Another of the many benefits that our system has over the series of components offered by some distributors in the industry is the number of connections that must be made. Remember, every connection must be readily accessible. That can mean a lot of access panels.

Space is also another consideration when designing a system. Enviro-Fill offers two vent systems to meet the diurnal emissions requirements, one being our pressure relief system that is located on the deck fill fitting and requires no new access panels. Some builders are very limited by space; this is the answer to those who can’t find the room to place a carbon canister, or simply want to meet the requirement at a fraction of the cost. This system meets EPA requirements and will be certified by Enviro-Fill.

There are some builders who have reservations with the pressure relief method of controlling diurnal emission. To meet the needs of these builders, we offer a version that vents through a carbon canister after refueling is completed. Enviro-Fill will be certifying that the design meets the requirement of keeping liquid fuel from entering the carbon canister.

Enviro-Fill’s OPS is the only system to use technology independent of the boat design to automatically shut off the refueling nozzle when the fuel in the tank reaches 95 percent full. The system was designed with simplicity, reliability and ease of installation in mind. Extensive testing has shown the system to be reliable and effective at meeting all of the pending regulations.
